Our classroom: Services

Creation station

Our creation station has been curated in a way that will invite children's to create and experiment with mark making materials (paper, crayons, pencils, scissors, collage items, stickers etc).   Children are encouraged to help themselves thereby encouraging independent learning, creativity and fine motor development.

Construction area

A designated space is provided for children to build with a variety of building materials such as wooden blocks, Duplo, stickle bricks and other loose parts. Small world animals are often incorporated into the play all of which are readily  accessible to the children.

Literacy

A library corner offers a selection of fiction and non-fiction books which are regularly rotated based on children's interests.  Children can choose to look at a book themselves or we can settle into the corner for story telling.  Story baskets are used to promote literacy and facilitate children retelling stories and creating their own versions.

Imaginary play space

Our imaginary play space offers children the opportunity for role play with their peers fostering the development of social skills and communication. Our kitchen has been through many transformations from pizzeria to food market.

Art

What better way can a child explore their artistic side then through process art. A beautiful supply of art materials are available daily for children to experiment with.

Table top activities

Our low level shelving allow for self-service selection of activities for children to complete either  by themselves or with their peers.  Puzzles, matching games, number games are routinely rotated and advanced in line with children abilities.  The use of open ended materials are promoted as it provides a wider challenge for children and often is more engaging than close ended activities which once mastered no longer interest a child.
